Key Verse

Trust in the LORD with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding; in all your ways submit to him, and he will make your paths straight. — Proverbs 3:5-6

Devotional

Trust is not a light word in Scripture—it is a call to total surrender. To trust in the LORD with all your heart means to place every aspect of your life—your decisions, fears, plans, and desires—into His hands. It is choosing to rest your full weight on God's wisdom, even when life's path looks uncertain or confusing.

Leaning on our own understanding often feels easier because it gives us a sense of control. But our perspective is limited, and our reasoning can be clouded by fear, pride, or doubt. God's wisdom, however, is infinite, pure, and perfect. He sees the full picture—past, present, and future. When we trust Him wholeheartedly, He does more than guide us; He makes our paths straight, clearing obstacles and aligning our steps with His divine purpose.

Reflection Questions

What area of your life are you most tempted to lean on your own understanding instead of trusting God?

Practical Action Steps

• Write down one decision, plan, or worry you are currently facing. Each day this week, pray specifically about it, asking God to guide your steps and give you the faith to trust Him with the outcome.

Closing Prayer

Heavenly Father, Thank You for reminding me that Your wisdom far surpasses my own. Forgive me for the times I have leaned on my understanding instead of fully trusting You. Today, I surrender my plans, my worries, and my desires into Your hands. Teach me to rely on Your promises and to walk by faith, not by sight. Make my path straight according to Your will, and help me to rest in the assurance that You are always with me. Strengthen my heart to trust You more each day. In Jesus' name, Amen.
